On September 4, 2004, Joe Cox, a System Engineer from Apple Computer Australia, gave a presentation to AUSOM Incorporated, Australia's Leading Apple Macintosh User Group, on the new iMac G5 and the next generation of Mac OS X - Tiger and here are URL's of some of the resources and information he covered.

iMac G5 Introduction Video

The iMac G5 introduction movie that includes comments from Jonathan Ive, the Vice President of Industrial Design at Apple and Greg Joswiak, the Vice President of Product Marketing and will.i.am & Fergie from Black Eyed Peas is available for viewing online. If you want to introduce your PC friends to the iMac G5, this is good clip to use.

Apple Expo Paris Keynote

The iMac G5 was announced by Phil Schiller, Apple's Senior Vice President of Worldwide Product Marketing at the Apple Expo Keynote, which was held in Paris just a few days before Joe gave his presentation to us. Phil also demonstrates some of the new features in Tiger. The Apple Expo Keynote can be viewed as a video-on-demand in QuickTime.

Mac OS X - Tiger

The next generation of Mac OS X, which is known as Tiger, will be released in the "first half of 2005" and will include 150 enhancements. You can find all about some of the major features including Spotlight, Safari RSS, Dashboard, Automator and my favourite, Multi-person Video and Audio chats in iChat AV by visiting the Sneak Preview page.

WWDC 2004 Keynote

Tiger was first previewed at the World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) in the Keynote presentation given by Steve Jobs. He covers a all the major features listed above.

Apple Maintenance Program

In response to a question, Joe detailed the Apple Maintenance Program, were you can "subscribe" to software upgrades for a three year period. This saves you both time and money. More details can be found at the Volume Licencing page.
