Eudora Pro is now free
Febuary 2000 Late in December, Qualcomm Inc announced that they were changing their marketing strategy for their flag ship email client, Eudora Pro. Effectively, they are now giving away Eudora Pro for free, but in exchange they have simple advertisements displayed. Two other options exist - Retail, where you pay for the product and have the ability to turn off the ads and Light where a lot of the options are disabled, including ads (why anyone would choose this option is beyond me, but it is there none the less). The sponsors advertisements are displayed in a small floating palette and are static images as so not to distract the user from the programs main purpose - the reading and composition of email.

It also has a "Trade show" that is similar in concept to PC98/Interact here in Melbourne, with various vendors displaying their new software and hardware for the Mac.

Uses for "older" Macintoshes
Feburary 1996 I have often heard that the only uses for older Macintoshes include a Door Stop, Bookends or a boat anchor. This isn't true - I've heard that a particular AUSOM member who is well know for his collection of older style Mac's has even made a fish aquarium out of an old 128 or "Fat" Mac case. Seriously, older Mac's can still perform many, many useful tasks.
