Highlights from the AUSOM Web site

Horizontal Rule
Issued on April 7, 2003

The AUSOM web site is constantly in a state of flux, with changes and additions happening on a regular basis.

Sometimes these changes are highlighted with a bright red NEW! tag next to their entry on the main page. Occasionally they are featured in red text on a yellow background above or below the regular entries. Other times they are just quietly updated.

In recent months we have seen a number of new and updated pages been added to the site and here are some highlights from the AUSOM web site.

AUSOM

Vendor Specials

The Vendors Specials page is similar to the Vendor Advertisements on AUSOM FirstClass.

It contains a list of special offers available to AUSOM members and is updated every couple of weeks as new offers become available.

To take advantage of these offers you must be a member of AUSOM and you often require a User ID and Password to access the actual web page that contains the offer. Just follow the simple instructions provided and you take advantage of some offers that are currently available which include 20% off O'Reilly books and up to 60% off Aladdin System products.

AUSOM-Announcements

AUSOM-Announcements is a mailing list that is delivered directly to the mailbox of your choice and provides a timely reminder of what is happening at AUSOM during the month at our meetings and any special events that may be happening like the twice-yearly Computer Market and Swapment.

Subscription to AUSOM-Announcements is free and anyone can join.

You may expect to receive no more than half-a-dozen messages a month from this list and most months it is only a single posting.

AUSOM Calendar Online

AUSOM has now published its own iCal, which details the dates and times of our regular Monthly Meeting (First Saturday), the R&O SIG meeting (Second Wednesday) and the Technology Evening (Third Thursday).

Users of Apple iCal application can subscribe to this calendar to save having to enter in all the dates and times. Windows and Linux users can also access this information if they have Mozilla Calender installed.

Don't worry if you don't use a Calender application, you can still view the AUSOM Calender in your web browser by visiting iCalShare and viewing the AUSOM entry.

To subscribe to the AUSOM Calender, visit the Next Meeting page and click on the Subscribe to AUSOM iCal button.

The Next Meeting page also has a brief blurb about our Main Presentation and a copy of the timetable for the SIGs held during the meeting.

Back Issues of AUSOM News

A selection of back issues of AUSOM News are available for downloading as Acrobat PDFÕ³. They are compressed using StuffIt to save space.

Until recently, the average size of the PDF was about 8megs, but recent improvements in the way we create the PDF has seen them drop down to about 2.5megs in size.
