Today Apple Computer, Inc announced a new all-in-one desktop line, the eMac, which is aimed specifically for the education market and is based on the original iMac range, but features a 17″ CRT screen and a 700Mhz G4 processor.

Last December, I wrote a review on Panergy’s icWord and icExcel, two applications that I believe EVERY Macintosh owner should have – Even those who own Microsoft Office! as they allow quick and easy access to Word, Excel and AppleWorks documents, without huge system requirements. At the time I gave them a rating of “9 out of 10” and stated that the only reason they lost a point was because they didn’t have a carbonized version.

Apple Computer, Inc., have just released a public beta of a new Webmail service for use with their iTool’s mac.com email accounts, allowing you to access your mac.com mailbox from anywhere in the world.

In the past, you could only access your mac.com address using a standard POP3 or IMAP email client, like Eudora, Outlook Express or Mail.app. Now, you can access it from a web browser, by simply going to the Apple iTools page and logging in. Continue Reading

Steve Godun has started a petition that he plans on submitting to Apple Computer, Inc in September 2002, that asks them to consider releasing Mac OS 8.1 and Mac OS 8.5.1 in a similar fashion to the way System 7.5.3 was released in late 1999 – The full installer made available as a free download from the Apple web site. On March 21, at approximately 11:30am Melbourne time, Apple’s CEO, Steve Jobs commenced his keynote speech at Macworld Tokyo. While this was with a “reasonable” viewing time to see a streamed QuickTime broadcast of the keynote live for those of us in Australia and the Asia Pacific region – normally we have to stay up late at night to watch them – there was no live QuickTime broadcast, nor in fact any real “live” coverage from the major Macintosh News sites.
